THE INCREDIBLE DINOSAUR DIG SITE N MONTANA

Mr. Video has been fortunate to participate in the Judith River Dinosaur Institute and the Little
Snowy Mountain Dinosaur Project
dinosaur digs for the past 5 years.  The highlight of the summer is a hot week under the sun in Montana digging bones.

Mr. Video poised for the action!

The crew conducts several week- long sessions per summer season, either digging dinosaur bones or exploring for them. The staff provides real, hands-on instruction for the volunteers who pay for the privilege to spend a “vacation” week unearthing real dinosaur bones, bones that have not seen the light of day for literally millions and millions of years.

A bone emerges from the depths of time.

Nate and team members roll the cast of Ralph’s articulated neck.

As the official observer (with a camera), I can tell you there is nothing like the moment when a person finds their first bone. There is a rush of awe, mystery, discovery and accomplishment, all rolled into one fossil. It might be a small fragment or it might be a whole bone, like a femur or skull! Whatever it is, it has lain untouched and unseen waiting for that person who finds it. It could be you!

Believe it or not, this is the Ralph dig site. Most digs sites are not this green!

In these pages we will bring you an assortment of dinosaur news, pictures, bulletins and personal comments of diggers.
All of the digs I have been on have been in Montana. The formations in eastern Montana are yielding marvelous specimens. The conditions seemed to be very favorable to finding articulated dinosaur fossils.

The Judith River Dinosaur Institute
conducts the digs and exploration workshops I have been involved with. Please feel free to contact them for specific information regarding the 2009 Dig Season at www.montanadinosaurdigs.com.  The participants are generally a diverse group with varied back grounds and interest levels, but everyone has a great time, even if they don’t find a bone!

Everyday ends with a sunset.

In addition to the science and hard work, there are wonderful times to be had sitting around the camp fire listening to songs and stories. Digging Dinosaurs in Montana; what an awesome experience it is!
As we update this section we will be sharing the digging of Ralph, The Mystery Sauropod. Be sure to check back.
